Big Ideas from the BC Curriculum

- Listening and viewing with intent supports our acquisition and our understanding of French.

- We can express ourselves and talk about the world around us in French

- Reciprocal interactions are possible even with limited French

- With increasing fluency in French, we can participate more actively in reciprocal interactions

- We can have meaningful conversations in French about things that are important to us

- Expressing ourselves and engaging in conversation in French involves courage, risk taking, and perseverance

Beginner

Beginner French Lessons :

This class will be a mix from Core French 3 to 5 and French Immersion 3 to 5.

 - Use various strategies to support communication and writing

- Exchange ideas and information using complete sentences, both orally and in writing

- Write simple sentences using words that follow spelling patterns and conventions of syntax

- Deconstruct a sentence into word groups to enhance comprehension

 

Advanced

Beginner-Intermediate Lessons:

Grade 6-7

This class will be a mix from Core French 6 to 7 and French Immersion 6 to 7

 - Use various strategies to support communication and writing

- Exchange ideas and information using complete sentences, both orally and in writing

- Write simple sentences using words that follow spelling patterns and conventions of syntax

 - Deconstruct a sentence into word groups to enhance comprehension

 

 

Intermediate Advanced French Lessons:

This class will be a mix from Core French 8 to 12 and French Immersion 8 to 9.

- Write clear, coherent texts in French, following the structures being studied

- Prepare and present arguments and counter-arguments in French to justify one’s own viewpoint and to understand the viewpoints of others

- Organize ideas logically and fluently in order to write coherent texts in French that follow a specific structure

- Understand the value of tenses in order to use them appropriately in communication
